When starting off a blog, it is normal to have a more "spontaneous" approach in the beginning: you simply write and publish new posts whenever you feel the right inspiration. Still, as the audience for your blog broadens, you will have to find a way to keep it regularly up-to-date, without having to spend of all your time on it.


Good news: there is a solution and it involves defining a mid or long-term strategy by scheduling your posts. You can proceed as described:


1. Organize your sources

Living from hand to mouth isn't the best solution: you need to find a way to organize your sources. Carefully follow other blogs and portals dealing with the same topics you do.

Using tools such as Feedly you can simply organize your sources in categories, read the most interesting articles and find new inspiration for your own contents.


2. Create a calendar

Focus on attainable objectives which can interest your audience at the same time. If you want to publish one post a week, you can use a simple Excel or Google Docs sheet to create your weekly planning.



In our example, we reported the days of the week, the weeks of the month and a list of possible topics you can cover on your blog. Now you need to report the article titles in the specific cells and set the corresponding color according to the topic. You can use the notes to report any links, comments or details about a future scheduled article.


3. Schedule your posts

Now you can move on writing your posts: as you already know what they are about, it will be easier for you to develop all the programmed articles and then simply schedule the publication according to your calendar.

  • Open the Blog window and click on the Add button to create a new post.
  • Report all the necessary article details and contents.
  • In order to schedule the post, use the Publication Date option while in the Post Settings>General window to set the date and time when the post should be published.
  • Repeat these steps to create all the programmed posts, and set a publication date and time for each.
  • Go to Step 5 and export your project online. If you didn't do any other project editing a part from creating new blog posts, choose the Export only Blog and RSS Feed option to speed the uploading up.


Regardless the publication date and time you set, all posts are always displayed on the local Preview and exported online. However, the blog posts will then be available online starting from the date and time you set.
