The Article structured data help Google understand the topic of a Blog article and report it in the best way possible on the SERP.

Such posts can in fact be displayed among the search rich results, shown in a Carousel form or reported as Top stories.

The availability of an AMP version of the article can affect how the post results are shown on the SERP.

AMP and structured data

In its search for developers, Google clearly suggests creating AMP pages with structured data so to get the most benefits.

First, AMP improves the page loading speed, which positively affects its ranking: as visitors tend to click more on the first results, this also improves the click-through rate (CTR).

Moreover, a page loading faster has a lower bounce rate, which is also conceived as positive by the search engines.

Finally, adding structured data for AMP pages helps Google better understand the contents and consequently show the pages as rich snippets on the SERP. This of course leads to a higher CTR.
