Having much text to show and little available space: typical, isn't it? An efficient way to solve this issue is to organize the text into paragraphs and let the visitors choose the section they want to read and hide the rest simply by selecting the relative titles. To make it easy, you should use the Accordion Text & FAQ Object, just like we did to create some examples available on this Preview page.

How to add texts

For best results, use the Accordion Text & FAQ Object for text that is organized into sections, each with a title: like a FAQ list, a glossary, etc...  So that every section of text corresponds to a block and has both a title and a body, as well as an image and a button with an active link.

  • Double-click the Accordion Text & FAQ Object you inserted to display the window with all the setting.
  • Stay in the Content section and click on Add to add a new text block to the list.
  • Select the newly added block in the list and enter all the necessary information to compose it. For each block you can define:
    • a Title;
    • a Text, which is the actual content of the block;
    • an Image that you can choose from those saved locally on your PC or from those available in the  Online Libraries;
    • a Button: here you only need to type the button label, and you can then style it using the options in the Style section;
    • a Link: this option is available only if you have already added an Image and/or a Button. Click on to open the Link window and choose the action to be performed when clicking on the image and/or button.
  • Repeat these steps to add all the text blocks you need.
  • To modify the list of blocks, select the one you want to edit and use the Remove button to delete it or the arrow buttons to move it.
#tip - To write or edit titles, texts and button labels, you can use MagicText, the AI assistant integrated into WebSite X5.

#tip - In this Object, images are placed inside each text block. If you prefer a layout with images displayed alongside the content and changing dynamically based on the selection, you can use the Accordion Image Object.

How to define the graphic Style

After defining the contents, you can easily configure the appearance of your Accordion Text & FAQ Object and all the elements it contains in order to best suit your site's overall design:

  • Open the Style tab and use the options in the Behavior section to define how the user will be able to interact to display the textual contents. More specifically, you can:
    • Define the Object appearance when the page is loaded. Use the Open box at start up to have all text blocks closed at first, displaying the titles only, except the first one. Alternatively, you can define all blocks to be open at the same time.
    • Set the Effect Duration for the blocks' opening/closing, making the tradition more or less quick.
    • Decide whether the user can close open blocks (Allow closing box) or keep multiple blocks open at the same time (Multiple Visualization).
    • Make sure that the structured data provided by Schema.org for FAQ Pages is included in the page code by activating the Enable Structured Data Type FAQ Page option.
#tip - Don't forget that structured data are available for the Pro edition only, starting from version 2020.2. Use the Enable Structured Data Type FAQ Page option only if you are using this Object to create FAQs. For more information, see: How to use the FAQ structured data

  • Now, you can define the appearance of the individual Elements that make up the Accordion Text & FAQ Object
    • select the Element you want to customize: Box, Title, Active Title, Icon, Text, Image or Button;
    • use the available options for each selected element to define settings such as Borders, Colors, Fonts, Margins, Alignment etc. You can get unique effects: if you, for example, cancel the distance between blocks, the bevel and shadow will be applied to the whole Object and not to individual blocks.
  • Click OK when you're happy with the result.
